Trail One · The Spine
Monte De Oro Winery
A member-owned estate whose tasting hall looks down — literally, through a glass floor — onto the barrel room below.
Architectural gestures in wine country are usually just gestures. This one earns itself. Standing over a working cellar while you drink what came out of it collapses the distance between the pretty half of a winery and the industrial half, which most properties work quite hard to keep apart.

What to expect
| Go for | the glass floor over the working barrel room. |
|---|---|
| Expect | a large, modern hall rather than an intimate bar. |
| Suits | anyone curious about the production side. |

Before you drive
This page is an independent guide, not the winery. Hours, tasting fees and
reservation rules change season to season — and several rooms are
reservation-only on weekends. Check Monte De Oro Winery’s own site or call before
building the day around it.
